Cautious and Conscious
I used to be rather cautious and conscious about what I said online. I mean, apart from any comments that might offend people, topics where I want people to agree, approve of, or acknowledge. I was looking to please everyone who may land on my site.
From This Point Onwards
But as I create this piece here, I’d like to announce that that is not going to be the case from this point onwards. It’s not that my work must be controversial for the sake of it, or it must evoke the “love me or hate me” ultimatum. It is also not about deliberately using a biased perspective to wedge out or alienate certain people; just because they are not worth it.
In fact, just because you agree with my work doesn’t mean I have to like you. At the same time, because you do not agree with my work doesn’t mean I have to dislike you. The point is not about seeking your approval, agreement, nor acknowledgement. The point is to nudge you enough to get you to the point where you would take some form of action that will get you closer to an engaged life.
The Engaged Life is a Choice
The engaged life is a choice. You must act on it. You must do something, anything, to bring you closer to it. It will not seek you out. Neither will it happen by default. Also, it is not easy, but neither is it impossible. Just because you have the knowledge or skill does not guarantee you an engaged life. And just because you do not have the knowledge and skill doesn’t mean it is beyond your reach, though it may be slightly more challenging.
The verse today spoke out that we need to be strong. Not the strength type, but the emotional kind. We need to be strong, courageous, and face the task head-on; as the resistant is strong. It will lure you back to your comfort zone. It will try to talk you out of it. It will do whatever it takes to prevent you from taking action.
Let’s Build God’s Temple
As God’s people, we are all responsible for building the temple. The temple doesn’t have to be a physical one. But it must have the main elements of God’s temple, and that’s the act of loving one another. Everyone is welcome. But everyone has their choice to exercise their free will. That said, they will not get to choose the consequences.
How are you being truthful to the work that you get to do for God? Are you bending it just to reduce the heat? Or are you directing the work to your glory, and not God’s?
Can you be honest?
Father, I pray that we find the strength, the courage, and the will through Jesus Christ to do the work that will bring glory to Your Name. In Christ name, Amen.
